FPS are delighted to help a local care home, upgrading their existing system to ensure they meet the requirements of Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service. Phase 1 included 40 + addressable detectors, sounders and VADs with a connection to the existing conventional system all installed in a ten day window.

The install team overcome some difficult install issues with Asbestos Coated Ceilings, with the help of Fineline Environmental and particularly Dave Walker the install went well with risks minimised for all concerned.

The Detection was supplied by Hochiki and Panel from Kentek who delivered on time to allow the install team to complete within the deadline. The property contains vulnerable residents so VADs have been installed to assist with escape and early warning. The design was difficult and complex due to the high risk of false alarms.

With VADS and sounders installed in all the bedrooms, a large alarm load was expected, so the need to carefully consider audible levels throughout was paramount not just for this phase. The design up front detailed how this was to be achieved with the accurate measurement of background levels and expected alarm levels to ensure the system will ultimately meet BS 5839 Part 1 2013.

After the install, setting the system to work required much diligence and accuracy, with audible levels, texts and zonage.

Managing Director Mark Overton said ” A big Thank you to the Install team Ian and Ali for the diligent and excellent work” he went on to say “without dedicated and hardworking staff the business would not grow”.

Look out for Phase 2 that will include another 80 plus detectors and sounders with completion due by the end of March.
